Catch-up

Since our last blog in 2011, everyone probably thought we fell off the grid/earth. However we are still alive and kicking and still fulltime RVing.

A brief summary of the last 5 years:

We continued to work as workampers at Chalk Creek Campground in Nathrop, CO during their camping seasons May thru September in the years 2012 & 2013.

We worked as workampers at Silverline Resort in Winthrop, WA during their camping seasons May thru September in the years 2014 & 2015.

Many of you might remember the fires in Washington.
Needless to say the fires were close. Night picture shows all the fires on the ridge across the lake.

We worked as workampers at Indian Campground in Buffalo, WY during their camping season May thru September in 2016

We visited Crazy Woman Canyon just outside of Buffalo. No fires here.
Spent an evening being entertained by a jam session at the Occidental Hotel.

We were snowbirds and wintered at Val Vista Villages in Mesa, AZ from November thru February 2010 thru 2016.

We spent March of every year traveling to attend the FCRV (Family Campers and RVer's) Retiree Rally.  They were located in Tallahassee FL, Rayne & Houma LA, and Canton TX.

Year 2017 brought new changes in the air.

We purchased land in Campground of the Rockies (CORA) with full hookups for the 5th wheel.  It is located 16 miles south of Fairplay, CO on US 285. We plan on spending the summers here instead of working as workampers and it also has extra hookups for visiting RVer's

In January and February, we spent the rest of our winter in Sunlight Travel Trailer RV park in McAllen, TX.

We went on our very first cruise in February.  We left Galveston, TX on cruise ship Carnival Freedom.  We visited the ports of Cozumel Mexico, Belize City Belize, Mahogany Bay Roatan Honduras.

So what is in the future?  Why did I update the blog?  What else is new?

In June, we will start a another new adventure and travel with Adventure Caravans on a 59 day tour to Alaska.  That tour does not include the days to travel to get the meeting place or the days needed to travel from the final stop to get back home. Many people have requested we do a blog for the trip. We will try to update the blog along the way in a timely manner with pictures. Not 5 years from now. More to come of our new property too.

The Grand Canyon

On the trip from Colorado too Mesa, Arizona we stopped at the Grand Canyon for one day. We walked along the Rim Trail and took this classic picture of the canyon.

Colorado Fall Colors

We have left Colorado before winter starts. We have not posted any thing this summer because I was busy fishing in the Arkansas River Valley. Before leaving Chalk Creek we did see a lot of leaves changing color. The above picture was taken at MT Elbert Forebay, I was fishing the lake and Sandi walked the dogs around the lake while taking pictures.

On the Road Again

We are on the road again. Yeah!!! We left Nathrop on Oct 4th and journeyed to Denver to do things like the ritual doctor, dentist, house, vehicles etc appointments.
Then we headed to Elizabeth, CO for a fun halloween campout with the Rocky Explorers which is our camping chapter of FCRV. We decorated a shelter with spooky things like ghosts, spiders, rats, witches etc. Then we decorated our own rigs, decorated or carved pumpkins, played all kinds of games, bobbed for apples, ate wierd food like puke and snot (cashew chicken), drank fluids like urine (apple cider), ate a cemetary (cake with cookies), dressed in costumes and went trick and/or treating. We had contests for the best rig decorated, the best costume, the best pumpkin etc. We gave away alot of prizes including anyone who just participated, so no one was left out. The kids had a great time and they got to celebrate Halloween twice. A good time was had by all.
Our next stop will be Colorado Springs to visit with family before we head south for the winter.

Chalk Creek Campground & RV Park

We arrived back in Colorado in early April we spent some time in Colorado Springs. Then we spent two weeks in Denver for doctor and dentist visits. We also activated the sprinkler system on the Xenon house. We had many things to get taken care of before going to Nathrop and Chalk Creek Campground.

April 21st we moved up to Chalk Creek for the duration of the Summer. Spring is slow in arriving to the Upper Arkansas River Valley. The campground is located at the base of Mount Princeton. The following picture of Mount Princeton is from our site in the campground, and the view we have from our dinning table window.
